Zero-emission Air Conditioner
Using thermal energy from the sun, four aerospace
engineers have created a zero-emission air conditioning system. With a
background of engineering thermal control and cooling systems for the
European Space Agency's satellites, the four used their experience to
develop a novel system using curved solar mirror troughs to power air conditioning and central heating systems.

Big Rigs Powered by Grid
Sweden plans to test an "eHighway"
where diesel hybrid vehicles can operate on power supplied from an
overhead contact line. A sensor system automatically connects and
disconnects the truck pantographs with overhead catenary wires at speeds
reaching 90 km per hour. Haulers must have hybrid electric/diesel drives so that they can operate away from the cables.

Pulsar Astronomy
A double pulsar system is considered a terrific object
for studying relativity. However, it also can offer great insights into
QED. What is it about that type of system, particularly the space close
to that system, which makes it so useful for studying QED?

2-Axis vs 3-Axis
"Laser system designers have a broad range of beam
positioning architectures available to them to solve various
applications. This paper explores the design, benefits, consequences,
and use of the 3-axis scan head technology as compared to 2-axis scan
head architecture." Read this article in its entirety.
